Instrumentalist, composer, band leader and singer even, anything a free spirit fancies Avishai Cohen does it, embracing oriental and latino influences, as well as classical, flamenco and pop! From Stevie Wonder to Gabriel Fauré, he asserts his difference, performing brilliantly alongside Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove, Herbie Hancock, Bobby McFerrin, Paquito D’Rivera, Alicia Keys. In other words, Avishai is not for categorizing! Today he figures among the inventers of tomorrow’s jazz, where everything is possible, from Coltrane-like lyricism to inventively destructuring jazz standards.

 Jazz according to Avishai is vulnerable and dominating, sentimental and thoughtful, global and intimate, a manifesto to joy, a flood of direct emotions releasing waves of extraordinary improvisations. Accompanied by Orchestre National de Lyon and his trio Avishai Cohen will be premiering his latest composition at the Auditorium.
