Born in Ukraine, Vadim Gluzman is one of the most brilliant descendants of the East European violin tradition. As guest artist of the Grands Interprètes series, he will give his first recital in Lyon, after his brilliant performance of Brahms’Violin Concertoin 2013 with the Orchestra national de Lyon and Leonard Slatkin. An accomplished violinist, Vadim Gluzman’s impressive technical skill and refined sound have made him one of today’s most original musicians, far from the glare of the media, a specialist not only of the grand repertoire but also of contemporary music. He has performed with major orchestras and in 2015 made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Cleveland Orchestra. Accompanied by Evgeni Sinaiski, Vadim Gluzman has chosen a fascinating programme, with a friendly wink to Lyon, as he will play a sonata by Jean-Marie Leclair, born in Lyon in 1697, followed by two major Russian works: Prokofiev’s First Sonata and Tchaikovsky’s Memory of a Dear Place. For the first time in Lyon we shall hear the “Sonata 11 September”by the Russian-American composer Lera Auerbach. The concert will end with Ravel’s Tzigane.
In partnership with Les Grands Interprètes.
