Opera in concert version returns to the Auditorium! Complete works or large excerpts, we have chosen for you pieces where the orchestra plays a major role and is displayed in all its colours on the stage of the Auditorium. Before Bluebeard’s Castle (28 and 30 January) and Die Fledermaus (New Year concerts), the Orchestre national de Lyon and Leonard Slatkin will perform Richard Strauss’sSalomé, one of the most stunning works in opera. One wonders what inspired the young Strauss to choose a subject as passionate as this bible story, which Oscar Wilde transformed into a cynical vision of a decadent society. The entire work is devoured by passion, a gigantic hymn to eroticism carried by a huge orchestra, culminating with the famous “Dance of the Seven Veils”. This concert will be one of the most fabulous of the season, with singers who have performed these roles throughout the world. The demanding principal role will be sung by Lise Linstrom in her first appearance at the Auditorium, a role which she recently performed at the Vienna Staatsoper.
En complicité avec l’Opéra de Lyon.
