At last, we are tempted to say! Leif Ove Andsnes is returning to Lyon after a seven year absence. Since his first performance in 1996 in the Grands Interprètes series, the Norvegian pianist has confirmed year after year that he is one of today’s greatest talents. His stunning technique, penetrating interpretations and his extraordinary musical intelligence have brought him resounding successes at major international venues. A highly sought-after soloist by the top ten European and North American orchestras, Leif Ove Andsnes forces our admiration as much for the immense breadth of his repertoire as his unique style. After a triumphant four year world tour featuring the complete cycle of Beethoven’s piano concertos, which he directed from the piano, Leif Ove Andsnes returns to the Auditorium for a special recital featuring a selection of short works by Sibelius, a Scandinavian repertoire rarely played in concert, but which he has always advocated, Beethoven’s “The Hunt” Sonata, followed by a fascinating dialogue between two giants of piano music, Frédéric Chopin and Claude Debussy.
