A pioneer of space travel, Jean-Loup Chrétien has made three trips into outer space bringing back films which, years later, still continue to fascinate us. Although his feet are today firmly on the ground this first West European spationaut continues to live at sidereal speed, but in his very full existence he has imagined a concert which combines his two passions: outer space and the organ. For this French Air Force veteran was within an inch of becoming a professional organist. In 1988, in the very restricted luggage he was allowed to take onto the Mir space station he put a small electric keyboard which he came across on his following mission nine years later and on which he gave the first organ concerts of all time in outer space. Improvising on the organ, but also playing excerpts from major organ works, David Cassan will introduce and accompany the film, which is funny (scenes from life in a weightless environment), filled with suspense (walking in outer space, the first one almost ended in disaster), or simply wonderment. There will also be a question and answer session with Jean-Loup Chrétien.
