(K)ein Sommernachtstraum
Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra (Variations sur un thème de Purcell), op. 34
Distribution
Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra was written with the aim of initiating young listeners to symphonic music and the instruments which make up an orchestra. The Auditorium-Orchestre National de Lyon invites you to experience this discovery in an original and fun way.
Standing in front of the orchestra, Florian Santos, stage director and actor, will intersperse the concert with funny, zany or more serious questions about the orchestra and the music, what you hear and see, what is or is not being played….
As well as the piece by Britten, the ONL will play Alfred Schnittke’s (K)ein Sommernachstraum, a “non-tribute” in a friendly nod to Shakespeare, which navigates between two worlds, one calm and reassuring, the other strange and disconcerting….
Come and have fun with the conductor and musicians of the Orchestre National de Lyon!
For 7 year olds upwards.
