Louis Sclavis, virtuoso clarinettist, symbol of bold European jazz, is a passionate musical adventurer. Idiosyncratic, unclassifiable, first and foremost a musician, Michel Portal is an extraordinary character, as remarkable in the classical repertoire as in jazz. When these two very old friends get together we can be sure of hearing fascinating and fun musical conversations.
Yet again, this time around the “Silk Route”, Louis Sclavis deals a new hand of musical cards for his trio, joined here by the percussionist Keyvan Chemirani. With his tombak and daf he will show us the passionate spirit of Persian rhythms. The music of the Silk Quartet conveys the existential feeling of belonging to an inseparable humanity and world. This has always been Louis Sclavis’ approach, journey after journey, exploration after exploration: constant evolution, building on his experiences to go deeper, methodically, into the tracks of an increasingly fascinating universe.
