Twenty years of cultural initiatives
For nearly 20 years, the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon has been offering a wide variety of projects, through its cultural initiatives, to experience music to the full.
CULTURAL COOPERATION CHARTER
The Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon has signed the Cultural Cooperation Charter in relation to the cultural component of the “city policy”. Accordingly, it is committed to helping underprivileged regions and the most fragile people through projects and initiatives that link culture and social/workforce integration.
The initiatives set up include:
- Solidarity ticket office : the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon has been working alongside the association Culture pour tous for over 10 years to ensure that everyone has access to culture. Each season, it gives 1,200 concert tickets to the 700 member social structures.
- Throughout the year, sessions are held at the Auditorium to present various job fields to members of the public. During these sessions, groups are able to meet several people from the administrative and technical team to gain an overview of how the structure operates.
- Twice a year, the Mission insertion culture presents applicants for the recruitment of public reception hosts/hostesses at the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon.
- More specific initiatives, such as a tour of the building or introductory workshops on the instruments of the orchestra are held every season with socio-professional job-search structures, young people from the local government-run youth support centres, and adult job-seekers (PLIE, RSA, long-term job-seekers, etc.). These initiatives are designed to help job-seekers build their confidence in themselves and in their own abilities.

MUSIC IN HOSPITAL
For many years, the Auditorium and the musicians in the Orchestre national de Lyon have been committed to taking music to people who cannot go to concerts. In partnership with the Hospices civils de Lyon, the volunteer, specially-trained musicians give concerts in the hospital and also at patients’ bedside.
Musical creation workshops
In the Musical Creation Workshops – a flagship initiative of the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon – collective music making and a personal experience of the world of the orchestra are the focus of a long-term project.
Orchestre Démos Lyon Métropole
In September 2017, the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon and a large number of social, artistic and educational partners embarked on the DÉMOS project and formed the Orchestre Démos Lyon Métropole.
Sound Workshops
The Sound Workshops are designed to give everyone an opportunity to explore and play music together.
Partnership with the leisure activities organised before and after school
The Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon is a partner in the leisure activities organised in primary schools before and after school, coordinated by the City of Lyon’s education department.
